James Lin, M.D. — Ophthalmologist

     Dr. Lin is a General Ophthalmologist whose surgical emphasis is cataracts. Additionally, he is highly proficient in evaluating and treating diseases and conditions of the eye related to glaucoma, strabismus, oculoplastic pathology and retina.  Prior to joining Pacific EyeCare he completed the most extensive ophthalmology residency program in the country, performing several thousand adult and pediatric surgical cases.
     His cataract surgical technique utilizes state-of-the-art technology, typically a non-stitch, small incision wound. He has also

developed new surgical techniques and patented several surgical instruments.
      Dr. Lin was born in Boston, Massachusetts and raised in Des Moines, Iowa. After graduating from Pomona College in Southern California, he taught math and science in both high school and middle school.
     His teaching experience in the sciences initially attracted him into gastrointestinal disease research and medicine at the University of Iowa where he received his medical degree.


     Subsequently he relocated to New Orleans, where he pursued research and completed his residency in ophthalmology at Louisiana State University and Alton Ochsner Medical Foundation, one of the first programs to study LASIK.
     Dr. Lin is board certified, a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, and a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. Dr. Lin keeps busy attending to his two sons. His personal interests include running, hiking, biking, photography, fishing and travel.
